I’ve always found that the speed of the boss is the speed of the team.

If you want to make good use of your time, you’ve got to know what’s most important and then give it all you’ve got.

Management is nothing more than motivating other people.

Motivation is everything. You can do the work of two people, but you can’t be two people. Instead, you have to inspire the next guy down the line and get him to inspire his people.

If for some reason you don’t know who he is, I strongly recommend to read about Usability Guru.

I met with his ideas about 5 years ago and I’ve never seems to be amazed how perfect his knowledge
about customers goals and customers behavior.  There are some my favorite quotes:

 

 

If your users have many questions, it’s a failure of your primary site design. It becomes not so much customer support, as much as customer complaints.

People give up if the item is not found where it’s expected to be.

Consistency is one of the most powerful usability principles: when things always behave the same, users don’t have to worry about what will happen. Instead, they know what will happen based on earlier experience.

Users want to construct their own experience by piecing together content from multiple sources, emphasizing their desires in the current moment. People arrive at a website with a goal in mind, and they are ruthless in pursuing their own interest and in rejecting whatever the site is trying to push.

On the Web, usability is a necessary condition for survival. If a website is difficult to use, people leave. If the homepage fails to clearly state what a company offers and what users can do on the site, people leave. If users get lost on a website, they leave. If a website’s information is hard to read or doesn’t answer users’ key questions, they leave. Note a pattern here?

Good information architecture makes users less alienated and suppressed by technology.  It simultaneously increases human satisfaction and your company’s profits.  Very few jobs allow you to do both at the same time, so enjoy.

Even the best designers produce successful products only if their designs solve the right problems.  A wonderful interface to the wrong features will fail.

I’m not saying multimedia is useless, but only give it to people when they ask for it. If you dump it on them to begin with, it slows down the navigation and distracts [users] from their mission.

TrustE icons, they are useless. No one understands what they mean.

It’s about time we start using more multimedia to convey information, … Good multimedia design is similar to film design. The goal is not to be flashy.

1st of all I can’t say I’ve always been Steave’s fan, but because of last happens I paid attention and found some interesting thing for my quote collection:

 

 

It’s really hard to design products by focus groups. A lot of times, people don’t know what they want until you show it to them.

You can’t just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they’ll want something new.

Design is a funny word. Some people think design means how it looks. But of course, if you dig deeper, it’s really how it works.

Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith.

When I hire somebody really senior, competence is the ante. They have to be really smart. But the real issue for me is, Are they going to fall in love with Apple? Because if they fall in love with Apple, everything else will take care of itself. They’ll want to do what’s best for Apple, not what’s best for them, what’s best for Steve, or anybody else.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren’t used to an environment where excellence is expected.

But innovation comes from people meeting up in the hallways or calling each other at 10:30 at night with a new idea, or because they realized
something that shoots holes in how we’ve been thinking about a problem.

If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on.

It’s not a faith in technology. It’s faith in people. It’s not the tools that you have faith in – tools are just tools. They work, or they don’t work. It’s people you have faith in or not. Yeah, sure, I’m still optimistic I mean, I get pessimistic sometimes but not for long. Technology is nothing. What’s important is that you have a
faith in people, that they’re basically good and smart, and if you give them tools, they’ll do wonderful things with them.
